Parts Finishing Operator

Job Overview: Apply finish coating to metal parts 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Affix misc. metal parts to tooling racks to be coated
  • Un-rack and package coated parts from tooling.
  • Move racks of parts from station to station via carts.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs., and
    occasionally lift/move up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work shifts for up to 10 hours where you are regularly
    walking and standing.
  • Working with sharps such as exacto, razor blades box cutters and some
    tooling racks.
  • Working around hot parts from baking and curing operations.
  • Working around acids, caustics, solvents, paints and moving equipment.

Process Specific Duties - Powder Coating:  

  • Apply masking tape and trim using an exacto knife.
  • Move carts in and out of oven on carts.
  • Electrostatically spray powder onto parts in a filtered spray booth Affix
    misc. metal parts to tooling racks to be coated

Process Specific Duties - Electro-Coating and Anodize:  

  • Place racked parts into wet process baths using overhead balancers
    and or hoist.
  • Using balancer or hoist, move racked parts down the line from tank to tank, applying electrical current to racks in some baths.
  • Monitor electrical input to parts, bath temperatures and quality of rinse
    and coatings applied.
  • Dry parts with compressed air at end of process.
  • Unload tooling racks from the process line onto specific carts, then load to
    oven (Electro-Coat) or packaging (Anodize)
  • Baths are all either DI water, alkaline or acidic in formulation, ranging
    from 28F-150F in temperature, and from 84 to 300 gallons in volume.

Process Specific Duties - Screen Print:  

  • Mix and apply epoxy inks to parts
  • Place printed parts on carts and move in and out of ovens to cure coating.
  • Clean and re-store tools, products and equipment used.

Process Specific Duties - Laser Engrave:  

  • Place parts on specific tooling on the work turntable.
  • While keeping clear of the engraving area, start process when complete
    activate turn table to continue the second half of the operation.
  • Once all parts are engraved, remove and reload turn table with the next lot of parts.

Required PPE Including but not limited to:  

  • Eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, respirator, boots, and aprons.
    (duty dependent)

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum 3 months precision mechanical assembly and test experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to read and understand simple blueprints and manufacturing related documents such as manufacturing routers and equipment manuals.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers.
  • Able to carry out instructions, and deal with problems involving concrete variables.

Work Location: In person

Schedule: 8-hour shift

Pay: $16.90 - $18.50 per hour
