Wilwood Engineering, a leading manufacturer of automotive and motorcycle braking systems, is seeking a dedicated, experienced Purchasing Agent for our Procurement Department in our facility in Camarillo, CA.

SCOPE: The Purchasing Agent reports to the Supply Chain Manager and is responsible for performing the procurement and expediting for required materials and services. Solid knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) software. Evaluates supplier delivery performance to provide corrective action as appropriate. Works closely with Operations, Research & Development, Engineering, Quality, Finance and other departments.

SUMMARY: Promotes the most effective use of company funds in the acquisition of assigned commodities and services through the use of Best Procurement Practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate details of purchasing arrangements to end users, i.e., delivery dates, logistics, method of handling requirements based on activities undertaken in their behalf.
  • Receives and analyzes requisitions, develops and investigates potential sources of supply, issues requests for quotations for those items not covered by existing purchasing agreements.
  • Enters and maintains pertinent purchase part information such as vendors, pricing and lead time information into the MRP system.
  • Advises management of marketplace commodity price trends, supplier capacity / loading situations, etc.
  • Works closely with the Accounting Department to reconcile invoice and purchase order cost differences.
  • Maintains good relations with supplier personnel, based on courteous, impartial, professional and objective dealings with suppliers.
  • Follows up open orders as appropriate. Expedites late or exception items, tracks inbound freight.
  • Handles Over/Short/Damaged (OSD) & Close Complete (CC) issues with suppliers.
  • Performs Maintenance, Repair & Operating Supplies (MRO) procurement activities.
  • Performs procurement research to support R&D activities, basic or applied, to review availability of materials, processes, and sources.
  • Performs logistics coordination and maintains truck run log.
  • Coordinates with outside suppliers on performing work on WWE materials.
  • May be assigned extracted commodities for cross-training on a weekly basis.
  • Performs other specific tasks as assigned by Supply Chain Manager.

Education and/or Experience

College degree in related field and/or at least seven years experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), Law of Agency, and Contracts is helpful. Skilled in Negotiation, as an individual or member of a team. Ability to represent the company effectively in dealings with suppliers is essential.

Schedule: 8-hour shift

Hourly: $26.44 - $31.25
