
Senior Quality Engineer

SCOPE: Reports to the Sr. Manager of Engineering. Scope of tasks reflect a low to moderate level of ability and experience in automotive mechanics, metal fabrication and electrical disciplines.
SUMMARY: Inspects incoming materials, various machined parts, and assemblies for conformance to specifications. Oversees and coordinates the division's Audit System and. Take the lead on customer and supplier interface requirements (IE: CARs, PPAP, CCR/RMA Investigations, VStudies). Implements the policies and procedures of the Division Quality System to applicable U.S. and/or international standards for consistent quality in products and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements the policies and procedures of the Division Quality System as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual and departmental operating procedures.
- Performs first articles, in-process, and final inspections of customer products per approved operating procedures, routers, and work instructions. Performs inspections as required to meet the needs of customers and scheduling requirements.
- Responsible for the prompt identification, documentation and segregation of material or product found non-conforming to blueprints, specifications, and workmanship standards.
- Audits for implementation and control of the division calibration system as outlined in the Q.A. Manual and related procedures.
- Ensures that current inspection status is on routers, tags and inspection documentation as outlined in applicable procedures.
- Audits the calibration and inspection quality records in a manner consistent with customer and ISO 9000:2015 requirements.
- Participates in the division internal audit system, helps prepare the audit schedule and reports to ensure compliance with the documented quality system.
- Responsible for prompt notification to the Manager, Quality Assurance for all non-conformances to the quality system or customer requirements found during inspections, routine audits, or casual observation.
- Lead PPAP documentation (Gage R&R, VStudies, FAIRs), corrective action response, CCR/RMA Investigations and others as needed.
- Responsible for accurate reporting and input to the MRP System.
- Maintains the priorities of safety, housekeeping, quality, service, and productivity within the scope of assigned projects.
- Responsible for implementing approved Standard Operating Procedures, Company Policies, safety guidelines, and recommended changes needed for continuous improvement.
- Seeks professional growth and advancement through continued education.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering – preferably Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- 7 years working in a quality environment
- Knowledge of ISO 9000:2015
- Knowledge of inspection techniques per ANSI Y14.5
- Ability to use all standard inspection equipment such as CMM, optical comparator, hardness tester, surface tester, micrometers, indicators, calipers
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
- Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Microsoft office proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint…etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automotive related experience
- Statistical Process Control and Quality System Auditing
- Experience with hydraulics, braking systems, and vehicle dynamics
- Lean Six Sigma certification

Salary: $80,000 - $130,000 annual
